Wonderful week, great training and very well organised

The group rides and runs were well organised with coaches in each group. The workshops were excellent and the swim sessions were also very useful. There were plenty of rides with fantastic scenery. The hotel was absolutely ideal, in particular that we could store bikes in our room, and also the food which was the best and most suitable for me of any hotel I have been to. The 2 pools and the gym were also great.

Fiona Day - 50, United Kingdom

I'll be coming back for many years!

Amazing camp! Trained hard and met many new friends. An experience I'll be coming back to for many years!

Max Quirk - 22, Australia

Thanks for a great week of training!

This is my second time at the Scientific Triathlon Mallorca camp. A fantastic place for a spring training camp, Mallorca is one of the best places for cycling that I know. Perfect weather, scenic challenging rides and hotel with great training facilities. Again the camp was great; good swim-bike-run program, guided groups by ability and all around great group of people to train and socialize with.

Sindre Sørensen - 50, Norway

Left the camp more confident

Overall, I enjoyed the sessions and seminars and have left the camp more confident and ready to tackle full distance!

Anna West - 30, Germany

Do it!

The camp was well structured with a good balance across the disciplines. Each day had a specific purpose and objective. I could make a step change in my training quality and volume without the constraints of normal day to day life. Portugal was a great location. Very good terrain, food and weather. To anybody considering signing up for a camp like this, do it!

Everybody was motivated and had a lot of fun

The training was really nice - especially enjoyed the bike run bike-run-bike-run on Friday. It was great to train in groups, everybody was motivated and had a lot of fun. I got to talk to the coaches a lot, and could not imagine better location and facilities.

Christoph Janßen - 35, Germany

Good coaches, program and athletes

The flexibility with respect to group level and individual ability was good, and so were the coaches, program and other athletes. The facilities were good, well located and with nice food.

Justine Cordier Svendsen - 44, Norway

Supportive and motivating

It was very well organized from the beginning to the end of the camp. The possibility to choose a ride according to our fitness and/or fatigue level was welcome. Coaches were supportive and motivating. The atmosphere was friendly and happy thanks to the overall motivation and the wonderful environment in which we were living. The hotel was comfortable, well located for triathletes, and the food was absolutely great.

Johan Fayet - 24, France

Very happy with the week

I'm very happy with the week, the training volume and the quality that I got in. Also learned a few new things from the workshops and fellow triathletes, and got to meet a bunch of nice people and some serious athletes as well. Meeting such a diverse group of people sharing a passion for triathlon was actually one of the great positives of this camp.

Anna-Kaisa Pietilainen - 41, United Kingdom

Recommended for anybody who wants to improve!

I would highly recommend anybody who wants to improve in the sport of triathlon participate in this event. I learnt a lot - both individual advice and focus points for myself, as well as more general tips and tricks. Getting video analyses and individual technical feedback was one of the big highlights for me.

Jenny Petterson - 36, Finland

I had so much fun!!!

The amount of training experience available was incredible. So many intriguing and fun sessions. Plus, I really enjoyed the detailed workshops and the QA session. On top of this, it was truly amazing to have all coaches readily available to answer questions and give feedback. The facilities were great and the hotel landscape is so relaxing. And all participants were so energetic and full of desire to share thoughts and personal experiences.

Stefano Adriolo - 31, Italy

Thanks, loved the experience!

The camp was well organized, the rides were great, and so were the coaches, guides, and other athletes. Location and hotel were also great, staff friendly and helpful.

Sharon McDowell-Larsen - 63, United States

Good organization, nice location, and splendid views

Good organization, nice location with good food and facilities. Great climbs with splendid views, really appreciated that. The swim video analysis was a perfect addition as it always shows where to improve.

Arthur Blanc - 32, France

Loved it!

Loved the camp and the whole experience in general! I got an intense training week, great information from the workshops, and always found the right ride or run group for my level. It was great to meet my coach and all the other coaches, as well as fellow triathletes of all levels from among the participants.

Peter Gasser - 36, Switzerland

Surpassed my expectations at every level

My use case (no cycling) was very particular and Scientific Triathlon accommodated things to fit it, which I totally appreciate. Because of this, I had the opportunity of having individual running and swimming sessions with James (and one swim with Lachie), whose feedback on my technique was priceless. The Pollentia Resort was a convenient bubble where all basic needs were covered and catered for the very specific needs of athletes. Buffets at the restaurants were glorious. Overall, the camp surpassed my expectations at every level.

Camilo Buitrago-Hernández - 44, Colombia

Well-guided workouts

The workouts were very well-guided, and the Virtual Wind Tunnel scanning was a new level of triathlon high-tech! Highly recommended to anybody considering participating.

Petri Karvinen - 37, Finland

10 out of 10!

For me as a beginner, I learnt a lot from everything we did. I've never practised cycling technique before, so that was both fun and useful. It was great to get a video analysis of my swim and run form and individual feedback based on that. But most fun (and most hard work!) of all was the killer multi-transition brick workout we did!

Jessica Nordberg - 40, Finland

ABOUT SCIENTIFIC TRIATHLON TRAINING CAMPS AND EVENTS

Each training camp is slightly different, depending on time of year, participants, participant goals and goal events, and so on.

There are some things, however, that always remain the same. These include:

  • Individualisation - Adaptive coaching and workouts so each athlete gets the most out of all workouts and the camp as a whole. There is no place for one-size-fits-all coaching or workouts here.
  • Feedback - As a result of keeping the groups small enough, everybody gets all the attention necessary for me to provide truly individual feedback on what YOUR focus points should be and what you can do to improve.
  • Video analysis - Of swim and run technique.
  • check
Education - I focus on educating participants in the intricacies of triathlon, so that the camp is not just an immediate fitness boost, but when you return home, you will have learnt so much about training and triathlon that your training going forward will be much more effective than it has been in the past. Education takes place all the time: in workouts, in informal discussions, and as part of scheduled learning sessions.
  • check
Rest and recovery - While you will likely train more than you typically do, a training camp still offers a great opportunity to get away from stresses related to your job, family, and normal day-to-day. There is scheduled downtime, and most participants find that they get more and better sleep at a camp compared to at home.
  • check
Social and fun - Enjoy the company of other like-minded people. Push yourself in training with others. Chill, laugh, and relax over dinner and maybe a drink in the evening. Who knows, you may get friends for life!
  • check
Unlimited coaching consultations - If you are a self-coached athlete, see this as an opportunity to get all the opportunity in the world to discuss general and specific training topics and questions you may have. There will be a lot of time spent together, so there's no excuse not to use some of that to get a free consultation or two!

ACCOMODATION

The accommodation for the training camp is a 4-star hotel in Olhos d’Água, Albufeira, 25km from Faro Airport .

The hotel is made with athletes in mind, and many national triathlon federations use it for their elite athletes' training camps.

You will have free access to gym, spa, outdoor swimming pool (for leisure, our training pool is a short ride or drive away), beautiful private beach and more. The hotel also has an athletics track where we do our track running.

Buffet meals for breakfast and dinner are included, and you can be sure to find something that tickles your fancy, whether you want to try the delicious local specialties, or you want to adhere to any specific diet or food choices.
