OVERVIEW

This training camp will let you train in a smaller group environment (only 16 slots available) and explore the great training opportunities in the east of the Algarve, in the south of Portugal. Our hotel is located 300 m from the glorious Monte Gordo beach, and all around the little town is a forested area with great running trails. The cycling is equally enticing, with endless rolling hills, almost completely free from traffic, in the Algarve hinterland.  This camp is a great opportunity to put in a block of big volume of training ahead of the summer racing season. Train full-time in a positive group environment with like-minded people, and don't forget to take this opportunity to get advice from the coaches at the camp, who are always happy to discuss training and racing strategies.

BIKES & FACILITIES

Bikes: We recommend bringing a road bike or renting a road bike (from the 26th to the 2nd) for this camp. You may also bring your TT-bike, however, considering the terrain a road bike is our strong recommendation. The leg strength you build will transfer to riding your TT-bike when you get home.

Testimonials

Note that these testimonials are from our other training camps (in Mallorca and Loulé, Algarve) as this will be our first camp in Monte Gordo.

Thanks, loved the experience!

Sharon McDowell-Larsen 63, United States

The camp was well organized, the rides were great, and so were the coaches, guides, and other athletes. Location and hotel were also great, staff friendly and helpful.

Such a great camp and an amazing experience!

Kim VanPelt 54, United States

The training was really nice. I loved all the routes we did and I also enjoyed getting to know all the coaches in person. I really enjoyed everything at the resort, and everyone at the camp was great. It was great eating breakfast in the same general area and having tables reserved in the evenings so that we could all sit together and socialize. I bet this camp will become quite popular!

Supportive and motivating

Johan Fayet 24, France

It was very well organized from the beginning to the end of the camp. The possibility to choose a ride according to our fitness and/or fatigue level was welcome. Coaches were supportive and motivating. The atmosphere was friendly and happy thanks to the overall motivation and the wonderful environment in which we were living. The hotel was comfortable, well located for triathletes, and the food was absolutely great.

Good organization, nice location, and splendid views

Arthur Blanc 32, France

Good organization, nice location with good food and facilities. Great climbs with splendid views, really appreciated that. The swim video analysis was a perfect addition as it always shows where to improve.

Good coaches, program and athletes

Justine Cordier Svendsen 44, Norway

The flexibility with respect to group level and individual ability was good, and so were the coaches, program and other athletes. The facilities were good, well located and with nice food.

I had so much fun!!!

Stefano Adriolo 31, Italy

The amount of training experience available was incredible. So many intriguing and fun sessions. Plus, I really enjoyed the detailed workshops and the QA session. On top of this, it was truly amazing to have all coaches readily available to answer questions and give feedback. The facilities were great and the hotel landscape is so relaxing. And all participants were so energetic and full of desire to share thoughts and personal experiences.

Left the camp more confident

Anna West 30, Germany

Overall, I enjoyed the sessions and seminars and have left the camp more confident and ready to tackle full distance!

Great fitness boost and great training destination

Kieran Hashmi 28, United Kingdom

A great motivator and boost to my fitness, working with some incredible coaches and athletes. Mallorca is a great destination for training! The training allowed me to maximise my gains from the camp without overdoing it, and the coaches gave good feedback on the swim. The food was of high quality and there were plenty of people of a similar fitness level to me.

I'll be coming back for many years!

Max Quirk 22, Australia

Amazing camp! Trained hard and met many new friends. An experience I'll be coming back to for many years!

Thanks for a great week of training!

Sindre Sørensen 50, Norway

This is my second time at the Scientific Triathlon Mallorca camp. A fantastic place for a spring training camp, Mallorca is one of the best places for cycling that I know. Perfect weather, scenic challenging rides and hotel with great training facilities. Again the camp was great; good swim-bike-run program, guided groups by ability and all around great group of people to train and socialize with.

Loved it!

Peter Gasser 36, Switzerland

Loved the camp and the whole experience in general! I got an intense training week, great information from the workshops, and always found the right ride or run group for my level. It was great to meet my coach and all the other coaches, as well as fellow triathletes of all levels from among the participants.

Will return to future camps!

Krzysztof Kajetanowicz 40, Poland

Incredible island, communicative, nice and professional coaches and guides, fantastic group of people!

Surpassed my expectations at every level

Camilo Buitrago-Hernández 44, Colombia

My use case (no cycling) was very particular and Scientific Triathlon accommodated things to fit it, which I totally appreciate. Because of this, I had the opportunity of having individual running and swimming sessions with James (and one swim with Lachie), whose feedback on my technique was priceless. The Pollentia Resort was a convenient bubble where all basic needs were covered and catered for the very specific needs of athletes. Buffets at the restaurants were glorious. Overall, the camp surpassed my expectations at every level.

Very happy with the week

Anna-Kaisa Pietilainen 41, United Kingdom

I'm very happy with the week, the training volume and the quality that I got in. Also learned a few new things from the workshops and fellow triathletes, and got to meet a bunch of nice people and some serious athletes as well. Meeting such a diverse group of people sharing a passion for triathlon was actually one of the great positives of this camp.

A wonderful week, can't wait to be back!

Paul Astuto 36, United States

I really, really, really LOVED this camp. It was such a wonderful week and I can't wait to be back in the future. I got so much training in, saw some beautiful landscapes, and got to meet some wonderful people. It was fantastic. The resort was also excellent - especially the spa.

Can't wait to do it again!

Christina Krachtoudi 36, United Kingdom

It was simply fantastic. The set up with coaches and guides, the people of both those teams, the resort, the food, the island, even the weather! A memorable week and I can't wait to do it again already!

Wonderful week, great training and very well organised

Fiona Day 50, United Kingdom

The group rides and runs were well organised with coaches in each group. The workshops were excellent and the swim sessions were also very useful. There were plenty of rides with fantastic scenery. The hotel was absolutely ideal, in particular that we could store bikes in our room, and also the food which was the best and most suitable for me of any hotel I have been to. The 2 pools and the gym were also great.

First class training and coaching

Keith Smith 63, United Kingdom

Training and coaching was first class. The coaches were very happy to help all the athletes on the camp and they provided very welcome advice. It was refreshing to have coaches that understood individual needs and made us aware that there is no standard template we should all follow. Train the right way for you, track performance improvements and learn what works for you through trying different training approaches, and balancing your own volume and intensity.

Everybody was motivated and had a lot of fun

Christoph Janßen 35, Germany

The training was really nice - especially enjoyed the bike run bike-run-bike-run on Friday. It was great to train in groups, everybody was motivated and had a lot of fun. I got to talk to the coaches a lot, and could not imagine better location and facilities.

Loved it!

Joy Caldwell 41, United States

I loved the location, the people, the coaches, and the training. I also loved that we had group meals together for breakfast and dinner. Having the groups and the flexibility to move around every day was fantastic. It gave us all confidence that no matter how we felt that day, we had options and could have a great workout. The coaches were so approachable and willing to chat with us at all of the meals, on the rides, runs, etc. Everyone made such an effort to see how we were doing on both a training and personal level throughout the camp.
